1The links
There are three kinds of recording link. All of them open in the phone's browser, with nothing to install and no login.
Who can do this: anyone with the link can record. Managers share the links; anyone on your account can copy them.
1.1The link in the task
If Video walkthroughs is on for your account (see your PMS connection), RapidEye adds a recording link to each matching task in your ops software. The cleaner taps it in the task.
- The cleaner taps the link.A page titled Record inspection shows the home's name and address.
- They press Start inspection. The recorder opens (see 2). The recording is tied to that task, so the report lands on the right turnover.
1.2Your company's inspection link
One link for your whole company, for cleaners who do not work from tasks. Copy it with Copy inspection link at the top of any page in RapidEye, or from search (⌘K, then Copy company inspection link), and send it to your team once.
- The cleaner opens the link.Start an Inspection lists your homes, with a search box: Search by property name or address...
- They find the home and press Start inspection. The recorder opens. If the home has no baseline yet, this recording becomes its baseline; otherwise it is a normal inspection.

1.3A link for one home
On a home's page, New inspection, then Copy link for cleaner, copies a link that goes straight to that home. Paste it into a text or email. Details are in starting an inspection.
2Before recording
The recorder first shows Before you start: wipe the camera lens, turn on all the lights, go slow and cover every wall and surface, hold the phone steady at chest height, open closets, cabinets and drawers, and speak any notes out loud. A line underneath says that video and audio are both recorded. The cleaner presses Start recording.
The browser asks for the camera and microphone the first time, while this screen is showing. The cleaner has to press Allow, then Start recording.
3The recording screen
3.1Recording
The top bar shows the home's name, a red recording dot with a timer, a pause button and Done. Pausing is fine for a phone call or a locked door; press it again to resume. Mark Damage at the bottom marks the moment in the video, so the report shows where the cleaner saw something. The screen briefly reads Damage marked.
A recording has to be at least 10 seconds long. There is no maximum.
3.2The checklist
If the home has a checklist, one step at a time shows over the camera, with its room and 3 of 8. The cleaner films the step, then presses Complete. The pill at the top right, under the top bar, shows which step the cleaner is on, for example 3 / 8. While recording is paused, Complete is greyed out and the screen reads Recording is paused. Tap at the top to resume, then check off this step.
3.3Finishing
- The cleaner presses Done.If checklist steps are left, RapidEye lists them first (see checklists in the recording reference).
- The screen reads Uploading your video, with a progress bar and what is left, for example 14 MB left · about 2 min, and a line asking the cleaner to keep the page open until the upload finishes. On a good connection this takes seconds. When every part is up it reads Finishing your video.
- If your account checks checklists as the cleaner finishes, the screen reads Checking your work, usually for under 15 seconds, then shows how many checks passed.A step RapidEye could not confirm is listed under Needs another look. The cleaner can film it again, or press Already done? Tell us why and pick a reason.
- If the video is still uploading when the checks finish, the receipt keeps saying Uploading your video and its button reads Saving video… and cannot be pressed yet.Once the video is up, the screen reads Inspection complete and the button reads Done.
- The last screen reads Recording uploaded. Now the cleaner can close the page. The report goes to your team once it is ready.
4When something goes wrong
4.1The camera will not start
| Screen says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Camera access is off | Press Retry and choose Allow. If the camera was blocked before, turn camera access on for the site in the browser's settings, then press Retry. |
| Camera is in use | Close any video call or camera app, then press Retry. |
| Camera didn't start | Close other apps using the camera and press Retry. If it keeps failing, reload the page. |
| No camera found | Use a phone or device with a working camera. |
| Camera access needed | The browser refused the camera without saying why. Press Retry and choose Allow when the browser asks. |
4.2A recording was interrupted
If the browser closed partway, reopening the recording page (for example from the browser's open tabs) shows Previous recording found with how many minutes were saved. Continue Recording picks up where it stopped. Start fresh throws the saved footage away, so only use it to redo the whole home.
4.3Keep the page open while it uploads
The video uploads while it is being recorded. On a slow connection the upload can fall behind the recording, and the recording screen says Your connection is slower than the video. That is fine: keep recording. After pressing Done, keep the page open until the upload finishes.
The part of the video that has not uploaded yet is only on the phone. Closing the page or the browser before the upload finishes can lose the end of the walkthrough, so wait for Recording uploaded (or Inspection complete with a live Done button) before leaving the page.
4.4Still trying to upload
If nothing has uploaded for about 10 seconds, or the phone has lost its connection, the screen changes to Still trying to upload: The connection dropped. Keep this page open and the upload picks up on its own. On a recording without a checklist, a line under the progress bar also shows what is left, for example Waiting for a connection · 14 MB left.
- Keep the page open. Do not press back or close the browser. The upload carries on by itself as soon as the phone has a connection again. There is no need to record again.
- If you can, walk toward the Wi-Fi router, a window, or outside, where the signal is stronger. The screen switches back to Uploading your video as soon as it moves.
- Wait for Recording uploaded, or Inspection complete with the Done button, then close the page.
If the message reads Our server is not accepting the upload right now. Keep this page open while it keeps trying, and contact support if this lasts., the problem is on our side. On a recording without a checklist, the line under the bar also reads Not accepted by our server. Keep the page open and email support@rapideyeinspections.com.
