Hostaway has a real public API but no official MCP server or agent interface as of July 2026. Access is OAuth 2.0 client credentials: your Hostaway account ID and a client secret from the dashboard exchange for a bearer token that lives up to 24 months.
How Hostaway API access works
According to Hostaway's public API documentation (hostaway.com), Hostaway runs an open REST API at api.hostaway.com/v1 covering listings, reservations, tasks, calendars and more. Hostaway also keeps its API docs in a public repository on GitHub (github.com).
Authentication is OAuth 2.0 client credentials. You exchange your Hostaway account ID and a client secret from the dashboard for a bearer token, and that token lives up to 24 months. For a builder that is about as friendly as rental platform auth gets: one exchange, then a long-lived token.
There is no official Hostaway MCP server or agent-native interface as of July 2026. Hospitable, Guesty and Wheelhouse have shipped official MCP servers; Hostaway has not. Two limits to know before you build
From our own research on Hostaway's documentation, two things the public API does not do:
- Cleaning task photos are not retrievable. The task object has no attachment field and no task attachments endpoint exists. File attachments are only documented on conversation messages and expenses.
- There is no task webhook. Hostaway documents reservation, conversation-message and unified webhooks, and nothing that fires when a task completes.
