Why standards drift

Every operator has a checklist program. The gap is never the checklist; it is that nobody can look at every photo from every shift at every location.

Checklists get pencil-whipped

At the end of a double, every box gets ticked whether the work happened or not. Photo requirements help until the photos pile up unreviewed, at which point the camera becomes part of the ritual instead of a control.

The inspector sees what you missed

Health inspections react to what is visible: uncovered food, greasy surfaces, blocked handwash stations, pest evidence. Those same visibles are sitting in your closing photos tonight, unexamined.

Multi-unit means multi-standard

Field visits sample a handful of locations a quarter. Between visits, each site drifts toward its own definition of clean, and the brand standard becomes whatever the local manager tolerates.

How it works in foodservice

Zero new work for staff. The photos they already take become an audit of every shift.

Staff shoot what they already shoot

Opening checks, line checks, closing checks. If your program already captures photos, nothing changes. If not, it is a couple of minutes of phone camera per shift.

Every photo verified against the standard

RapidEye checks each submission for cleanliness gaps, visible food-safety issues, equipment condition, and merchandising execution, and verifies the checklist item was actually done.

Exceptions reach the right manager

Flags route to the opening manager or the operator with the photo attached. Fleet-level rollups show which locations hold the standard and which are drifting.

What it catches

The findings that show up in real opening and closing photos.

Food safetyUncovered containers in walk-in

Visible in the closing photo, flagged before the opening manager walks in blind.

Food safetyHandwash station blocked by stock

The classic walk-in inspection hit, caught from the photo your shift lead already took.

CleanlinessGrease buildup behind the fry station

Building for days in the background of line-check photos before anyone flags it in person.

EquipmentTorn door gasket on lowboy

Visible wear that becomes a temperature problem later. Routed to maintenance early.

ExecutionFront-of-house reset incomplete

Tables, menus, and merchandising checked against how the dining room is supposed to open.

VerifiedLine sanitized and set

Most checks pass. Verification means the passes are real, and managers only look at exceptions.

Illustrative findings. RapidEye flags what is visible in photos; it complements, not replaces, temperature logs and your HACCP process.

FAQ

Common questions

Does this replace manager walkthroughs?

It replaces the checking, not the managing. Staff keep taking the same photos; RapidEye looks at every one, every shift, every location, and surfaces only the exceptions. Managers spend their time on the three photos that show a problem instead of the three hundred that do not.

It detects what is visible: uncovered or unlabeled containers, food stored on the floor, dirty surfaces, blocked handwash stations, damaged gaskets, pest evidence, and similar. It does not measure temperatures or read logs, so it complements rather than replaces your HACCP process. The visible category is exactly what walk-in inspections and guest reviews react to.
Every location is verified against the same standard, and results roll up so an operator sees which sites hold it, which are drifting, and which checklist items get pencil-whipped. The whole fleet is audited from photos it already produces, not a sampled few visits a quarter.
Nothing, if your checks already involve photos. Otherwise, the change is pointing a phone at the line, the walk-in, and the front of house, a couple of minutes per shift.
